The stripes are what make Serenity look considered rather than plain. You change colour at set measurements on the way up — bands that get shorter as the body narrows — so the pattern does the placement for you and you never have to count rows. Everything is double moss stitch on 8 mm needles, which at 11 stitches to 10 cm means the whole jumper is a few evenings' work. There are no set-in sleeves: the sleeve stitches are cast on at each side of the body, so it is two pieces and two long seams.

Good to know

• Construction – knitted in two pieces, front and back, in double moss stitch throughout, with sleeve stitches cast on at each side. Read the pattern through before you start so you do not miss an increase.
• You will also need – 8 mm needles and two colours. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton XL (200 g): 3–5 balls in total depending on size. Using another yarn? Any chunky yarn that knits to 11 sts × 15 rows over 10 cm in double moss stitch.
