A loose sleeveless singlet knitted in double moss stitch, with deep side vents and a neat crochet edge at the neck and armholes. Knitted on 6 mm needles in Scandi Cotton. Six sizes, S to XXXL. Instant PDF download in English and Swedish.
Elvi is the pattern to reach for when you want something finished by the weekend. Front and back are the same shape, worked flat in double moss stitch, and the light waist shaping comes from decreasing at the sides as you go. The side seams stop about 10 cm short of the hem so the singlet falls open over trousers or a skirt, and one round of single crochet around the neckline and armholes keeps those edges flat without any picked-up rib. It works just as well in stocking stitch or garter if you would rather keep it plain.
Good to know
- Construction – front and back are knitted flat and sewn at the shoulders and sides, with about 10 cm left open at each side hem for the vents. Double moss stitch throughout, two rows of garter stitch at the cast-on.
- You will also need – 6 mm needles and a 5 mm crochet hook for the edging. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton (100 g): 2–4 balls depending on size. Using another yarn? Any 8 ply cotton that knits to 16 sts × 23 rows over 10 cm in double moss stitch.
- In the download – a 7-page PDF with the pattern in English and Swedish, a guide to double moss stitch and tension tips.
Happy Knitting!
