Crochet Top — PDF Crochet Pattern #190

The fabric here is the point. Half treble crochet gives a denser, smoother surface than the usual open crochet mesh, so the top reads as a proper garment rather than a beach cover-up — and then a band of treble and double crochet rows breaks it up every 10 cm so it never gets monotonous. Six sizes, a 6 mm hook and two to six balls of Scandi Cotton. It goes over a swimsuit, and just as easily with linen trousers.

Good to know

• Construction – front and back are crocheted in rows from a foundation chain and seamed at the shoulders and sides. A repeating band of treble and double crochet rows every 10 cm gives the surface its stripe.
• You will also need – a 6 mm crochet hook. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton (100 g). Using another yarn? Any 8 ply cotton that works to 14 sts × 11 rows in half treble crochet over 10 cm.
