A sleeveless cotton top with a boat neck that you can wear either way round – navy stripes on one side, a stepped rib texture on the other. Knitted in garter stitch on 4 mm needles. Eight sizes, bust 88–168 cm. Instant PDF in English and Swedish.
Frida is two tops in one. Front and back are knitted to exactly the same shape, so the boat neck sits right whichever way you put it on: turn the striped side forward for a crisp, nautical look with a band of navy, or wear the textured side out, where the rib grows a stitch at a time into stepped blocks. The fabric is garter stitch, which gives cotton body and keeps the edges flat without extra finishing, and small slits at the sides let it hang straight. It goes from a harbour walk to lunch in town with nothing more than a change of which side faces out.
Good to know
- Construction – two identical pieces knitted flat from the hem up in garter stitch – one with the navy stripes and band, the other with the stepped rib pattern. Sew the shoulders and sides, leaving 6–8 cm slits at the hem.
- You will also need – 4 mm needles. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton (100 g balls): 2–5 balls of ecru and 1 ball of navy. Using another yarn? Any cotton that knits to 20 sts × 34 rows over 10 cm in garter stitch.
- In the download – an 8-page PDF with the pattern in English and Swedish, the texture pattern written out row by row and the Scandi Cotton colour card.
Happy Knitting!
