A hood turns a cable jumper into something you actually live in. This one is picked up from stitches held at the neck and grown straight out of the body — eight rows of garter stitch first so the front edge lies flat, then moss stitch with a marker at centre back to keep it symmetrical. The body is cable knit throughout, which pulls the fabric in and gives the jumper its density, and in Scandi Soft XL it stays light on the shoulders despite the extra weight of the hood.

Good to know

• Construction – front, back and sleeves are knitted flat in cable pattern and sewn together, with 1×1 rib at the cast-on. The hood is picked up from held stitches at the neck and worked in garter and moss stitch.
• You will also need – 6 mm needles, a cable needle and a stitch holder. The pattern is written for Scandi Soft XL (100 g): 4–7 balls depending on size. Using another yarn? Any chunky yarn that knits to 16 sts × 20 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch.
