A long sleeveless vest worked in a fine odd rib, with deep ribbed armhole and neck edges and side slits at the hem. Knitted on 4 mm needles in Scandi Cotton. Six sizes fitting bust 96–148 cm. Instant PDF download.

This is the quiet one. Everything about it is fine — 29 stitches to 10 cm, 4 mm needles, an odd rib that runs unbroken from hem to shoulder — so it takes longer than most patterns here and rewards you with a garment that hangs like fabric rather than knitwear. The 5 cm rib around each armhole and the 12 cm collar are picked up in the round and cast off elastically, which is what keeps the edges crisp. The side seams stop 18 cm short of the hem for slits.

Good to know

  • Construction – worked bottom up: front and back knitted flat in odd rib and seamed, with 18 cm left open at each side for the slits. Armhole edges and the neck are picked up on a 3 mm circular needle and worked in 1×1 rib.
  • You will also need – 4 mm needles and a 3 mm circular needle for the edges. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton (100 g): 5–9 balls depending on size. Using another yarn? Any 8 ply cotton that knits to 29 sts × 32 rows over 10 cm in odd rib.
  • In the download – a one-page PDF with the complete pattern, the odd rib repeat and the finished measurements. English only.

Happy Knitting!
