About this pattern
I wanted a classic Scandi cardigan with the marled look of a Swedish raggsock, the traditional two-tone knitted sock. Holding a white and a grey marl strand together gives exactly that effect, and on 8 mm needles the pieces grow quickly.
The shapes are simple: a back, two fronts and two sleeves, all in stocking stitch with ribbed edges. The front bands are worked in garter stitch as you knit the fronts, with buttonholes on the right side, so there are no bands to pick up afterwards. At the back neck a section of garter stitch meets the bands for a neat finish. Easy to follow instructions make it a good first cardigan.
Good to know:
Construction - knitted flat in pieces and sewn together. The front bands are knitted together with the fronts.
You will also need - 4 buttons.
Substituting yarn - any combination that knits to 12 sts x 15 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch on 8 mm needles.
Happy Knitting!
