A loose, airy jumper knitted in chunky Scandi Cotton XL on 9 mm needles, with deep ribbed cuffs and a tall ribbed neck. Written for beginners. Six sizes, bust 98–142 cm. Instant PDF download in English and Swedish.
Tora is the most forgiving pattern I have written. On 9 mm needles the cotton knits up loose and open, and a little unevenness only makes it look more hand-made – so if your tension wanders, let it. It grows quickly, which keeps a first jumper moving, and the open fabric keeps it cool enough for warm days. The shape is simple: straight pieces, a ribbed hem and cuffs, and a tall rib at the neck that you can wear up or fold down.
Good to know
- Construction – front, back and sleeves are knitted flat in stocking stitch with 2×2 rib at the hems and cuffs, then sewn together. The neck rib is picked up and knitted to 10 cm.
- You will also need – 9 mm needles. The pattern is written for Scandi Cotton XL (200 g ≈ 240 m): 3–4 balls, approx. 720–960 m. Using another yarn? Any chunky cotton that knits to 10 sts × 14 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch.
- In the download – a 9-page PDF with the full pattern in English and Swedish, the Scandi Cotton XL colour card and a guide to tension squares and basic stitches.
Happy Knitting!
