Pia is the design people write to me about most often, and I think it is because the cable and the lace pull in opposite directions — one solid and traditional, one open and light — and the jumper ends up somewhere between the two. It is knitted in pieces from the bottom up and sewn together, which is the older way of doing it and still the way I prefer for a fitted shoulder; the seams give the shoulders structure that a seamless yoke cannot. The wool blend blooms a little after the first wash and the stitch pattern settles. Take your time with this one. It is not a weekend project, and it is not meant to be.

Good to know:

Construction - worked bottom up in separate pieces and sewn together. You will also need 4 mm needles for the ribbing. Substituting yarn - any yarn that knits to 17 sts x 22 rows over 10 cm.
